The Sohlberg delegation awards 20 000 € for postgraduate research within the geosciences (incl. geography) about the natural conditions in Finland and the Nordic countries. Grants are awarded for for conference trips, fieldtrips and purchase of programs. The application period is 1-26.6.2015.

The Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters celebrated its 176th anniversary on the 29th of April, 2014 by awarding grants and prizes.

Professor Juha Janhunen was awarded with the professor E.J. Nyström prize 2014 for his extraordinary research in linguistics.

29.4.2016 “Challenges for Europe – Demography and Immigration”
The refugee question is a challenge for Europe and for the individuals who are fleeing war and aggression. The symposium deals with differents aspects of demopgraphy and immigration thus focusing on a hot topic in Europe today. Research in demography and immigration is important. How may we get a better understanding of what has happened? In the end of the program there will be a general discussion between the speakers and the audience.

The symposium is arranged by the social sciences section of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters and the venue is the House of the Estates, Snellmansgatan 9-11, Helsingfors. The symposium is open to public and free of charge but advance registration is needed.
