Symposium: ”Sápmi Sameland med en mångtydig kulturautonomi”

The Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters, in partnership with the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters is organizing a symposium titled ”Sápmi Sameland med en mångtydig kulturautonomi” on October 22–23, 2024 in Oslo. The Society will cover the travel costs of its members. Further details will be provided at the start of fall.

The symposium aims to gather scholars to explore the Sami community’s journey toward recognition and their role as an institutional actor in public decision-making. While all three nations have attained this goal, the pace and extent of delegated strength have varied. The key question revolves around the implications for control over lands, populations, and livelihoods.
