Members of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters may apply for grants for conference travel and short research visits continuously throughout the year. Travel grants may be awarded for travel tickets, accommodation, conference fees, and daily allowances in accordance with the governments travel regulation (Valtion matkustussääntö). A freely formulated application should be submitted via the electronic application system well in advance of the trip. Log in to your personal applicant profile (not an organisation profile). If you do not have one, you should create it first. You also need an application code, which has been sent to the members but can also be obtained from the office.
The Board of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters will review the application at its next meeting, which takes place on the third Monday of each month except in April, June, and July. Grants are not awarded retroactively.
After the meeting, the decision will be sent to you by email. For the travel grant to be paid, you must log in to your applicant profile and complete a requisition for the payment of the grant.
A report on the use of the grant must be submitted no later than three months after the end date specified in the application, via the same applicant profile. The report may be freely formulated.
If a member applies for a grant or research funding during the general application period in January, they should include all travel expenses in that application and not apply separately for a travel grant. Grants for longer research stays must always be applied for during the general application period in January.
