Chair:<\/strong> Pauline von Bonsdorff<\/span> The Section of Humanities comprises the central humanistic disciplines: the arts and aesthetics; classical studies; cultural research including ethnology and folklore; history and archaeology; languages (general linguistics, classical and modern languages); philosophy; religious studies and theology. Within the section, there is significant expertise on non-European languages and cultures.<\/p>\n Members of the Section participate actively as presenters at the Society\u2019s meetings and seminars. In addition, the Section organises its own seminars on current topics. The Section has a Prize Nomination Committee which prepares proposals for nominations of international awards.<\/p>\n Humanities research is mainly published in the publication series Commentationes Humanarum Litterarum<\/em>, and in domestic languages in the series Bidrag till k\u00e4nnedom om Finlands natur och folk<\/em> (Contribution to the knowledge of Finland\u2019s nature and peoples).
