This year, the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters has published the first Swedish edition of Aristotle\u2019s Metaphysics, with an introduction, commentary and notes accompanying the translation by Jan-Ivar Lind\u00e9n. The volume makes Aristotle\u2019s thought more accessible both to scholars and to a wider audience. By prioritizing functionality over static composition or structure, rewilding is particularly relevant in an era of increasingly novel biosphere conditions driven by human-induced global changes. Trophic rewilding, focused on restoring trophic complexity through wild, large-bodied animals or \u2018megafauna,\u2019 plays a critical role in this context. Megafauna have historically shaped ecosystems through their ecological impacts, including promoting vegetation heterogeneity, seed dispersal, nutrient cycling, and biotic microhabitats, which are vital drivers of biodiversity and ecosystem function. Non-native megafauna may also enhance ecological functionality by acting as surrogates for extinct species or contributing to novel assemblages. With strong potential for upscaling through population growth and habitat expansion, trophic rewilding can foster adaptation to climate change, increase ecosystem resilience, and mitigate globalization\u2019s negative impacts, such as invasive alien species dominance. However, achieving these biodiversity benefits requires navigating the complexities of implementing trophic rewilding in a heavily populated and rapidly changing world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Speaker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jens-Christian Svenning is a macroecologist and biogeographer, with strong interest in plants, animals and people across the world. He is a Professor at the Department of Biology at Aarhus University, Denmark where he also serves as the Director of DNRF Center for Ecological Dynamics in a Novel Biosphere (ECONOVO), established in 2023. I detta minnesseminarium m\u00f6ter vi nio perspektiv p\u00e5 professor Klinge i hans olika roller. Det \u00e4r bland annat historikern, l\u00e4raren, debatt\u00f6ren och s\u00e4llskapsm\u00e4nniskan vi minns.<\/p>\n<p>Seminariet arrangeras av en kommitt\u00e9 som best\u00e5r av v\u00e4nner och elever i samarbete med andra som ing\u00e5tt professor Klinges breda n\u00e4tverk.<\/p>\n<p>Helsingfors universitet och dess kulturarv var viktiga f\u00f6r Matti Klinge och det \u00e4r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r en gl\u00e4dje att f\u00e5 inbjuda Er till universitetets nyrenoverade huvudbyggnad.<\/p>\n<p>Evenemanget \u00e4r avgiftsfritt och \u00f6ppet f\u00f6r alla.
